Research director Dr. Jyrki Luukkanen is an expert in energy and environmental policy, energy
modeling, engineering and development studies. He is an established leading expert in energy
planning models and energy-economic models, as well as futures-oriented issues. He has been the
scientific director of numerous research projects relating to energy, environment, and
development issues for more than 40 years, focusing both on the developing and industrialized
countries and has published extensively in the area. Dr. Luukkanen has been the director of
numerous research projects financed by European Commission (FPs and Horizon), European
Parliament, UNDP, Nordic Council of Ministries, Several Ministries in Finland, Research Council of
Finland and several companies.
