Malebogo Bakwena is an academic, qualified with a PhD in Economics, skilled and experienced within the field of Macroeconomics. She is currently the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Botswana. As an economist, she has provided thought leadership by engaging in several international speaking engagements. Some of her notable speaking engagements include speaking at a Chatham house Africa Programme and De Beers group Conference on Connecting resources and society in Botswana. She was also a panellist on Tracking Progress Towards Sustainable Development Goals hosted by Afrobarometer.
She has strong expertise in quantitative analysis and has undertaken projects and academic research around climate change, sustainability and development. She is currently a co-editor of the Botswana Journal of Economics.
