Mrs. Zuhal Er was born in Turkey. She graduated from "Kadir Has High School" in Istanbul in 1988. She graduated from Yıldız Technical University, Department of Physics in 1992. Shestarted her scientific career at Kocaeli University in 1993, then advanced to the position of senior lecturer at Istanbul Technical University in 1998. She completed the ITU Nuclear Energy Institute Master's program in 1997 and the ITU Energy Institute PhD program in 2005. She started working as a lecturer at Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Maritime Studies in 2006. She was appointed as an Associate Professor in 2018 and has been working as a Professor at ITU since 2024. In addition to her Maritime Faculty membership, she has also been working in the Department of Physics Engineering of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of ITU since 2008. In 2001, she worked as a guest lecturer at the Australian Maritime Academy (AMC) with a scholarship from the World Maritime Organization (IMO). She established a Series Circuit Laboratory at the ITU Maritime Faculty as part of the ITU JICA project. She has developed and taught various undergraduate and doctoral courses including Mariner Electrotechnics, Ship Electrical Machines, Solar Energy Physics and Technology-I, Floating solar systems. Three master's theses were completed under her supervision, with two in Maritime Faculty in 2008. The theses were named "Analysis of Sea via LNG Transport in Turkey" and "LNG Transportation Risk Analysis and Safety Management Model". The other one MSc and PhD theses were completed under her advisory in the Department of Physics Engineering, titled "New Model and Comparative Study of Factors with The Average of Daily Global Solar Radiation" and " Investigation of The Material Interaction of Solar Radiation and Neutron, Gamma Rays In Solar Cells/Modules/Panels". Lately, she has been working on solar energy applications, solar tracking systems, energy efficiency, risk analysis, ship electronics, low-level natural radiation analysis, ship ballast water management and rating of maritime companies. As an academician, she also uses C Sharp_Python-ML-AI Programming Languages in her work to create software included in business-industry applications. Zuhal Er is a renowned scientist with extensive experience in various national and international conferences, seminars, symposiums, and workshops. She has published numerous works in SCI and other indexed journals, serves as a referee for international and national publications, and participates in scientific committees for scientific events and IEEE periodicals. Er has made numerous presentations in these events and is a member of several scientific committees, including TUBİTAK, IEEE, MedGU, ICMATSE, Journal of Nanomaterials and Energy, Journal of Nuclear Engineering and Technology, JMSE, JEST, ICCESEN, INCOSOLE, Environmental Engineering and Management Journal, IJCESEN, IJNURASAT, ICEMEA, and IJESA. She has also been the patent number TR 2017 10264 B holder. She is the mother of an ophthalmologist daughter. Mrs. Zuhal ER states that she "has the goal and purpose to do her best to be able to make people smile as much as possible.
