Mubashir Mansoor is the co-founder and R&D director of STEMZY Engineering Solutions, specializing on harnessing material properties of interest through tuning of the point defect landscape either during materials syntesis or post-processing steps. He is also a PhD candidate at Istanbul Technical University"s materials science and engineering program, working on mechanical and optoelectronic properties induced by defects in a wide range of materials. Mubashir is focused on minimizing trial and error based experimentation through computationally aided experimental design by using state of the art Density Functional Theory methods along with algorithms developed by their team. He has published over 20 papers on a variety of materials, including energy storage applications, and in all of his work, the common denominator is the use of point defects for enhanced materials performance. Given that he has a background in gemology, diamond synthesis, sapphire treatments and developing machinary for highly engineered processes are also a key part of their everyday life.
